A number of events dedicated to the 75-th anniversary of foundation of the first university in the country – The National University of Mongolia (NUM) took place in Ulaanbaatar

A number of events dedicated to the 75-th anniversary of foundation of the first university in the country – The National University of Mongolia (NUM) took place in Ulaanbaatar on 5-9 October 2017. Among them – an opening ceremony of a new building of university library, solemn meeting at the State Great Khural, scientific conference in which participated Russian and Mongolian scientists, professors and researchers.

 President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga, Minister of education, culture, science and sports G.Chuluunbaatar, President of The National University of Mongolia Ya.Tumurbaatar, Minister-counsellor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation R.R.Rakshaev and Embassy staff, Director of Russian Cultural and Science Center E.G.Mikhailov and delegation of a number of Russian universities took part in the solemn events.

The establishment of the NUM in 1942 played a key role in manpower development of the country. Despite harsh conditions of the Great Patriotic War, USSR gave every possible assistance and support to Mongolia while founding the university. Experienced professors from the Lomonosov Moscow State University, I.M.Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Moscow K.A.Timiryazev Agricultural Academy and other universities, scientists, books and laboratory equipment were sent to Mongolia. Today the NUM is actively developing ties with Russian colleagues and leading foreign scientific and educational centers.
